De Paradijstuin,

Rebecca Pomerantz

De Paradijstuin was born from a lifelong passion for nature and, in particular, a fascination with gardens. My parents played a significant role in this. From my mother, a passionate gardener herself, I learned a great deal about plants and was allowed, even as a young girl, to design and care for my own section of the garden. From my father, I discovered the richness of the forest and all the edible treasures it holds. Growing up in South Limburg, we had endless opportunities to explore and enjoy.

After a detour through a law degree and several years in the corporate world, I pursued a garden design course and a study in Permaculture*. This proved to be the perfect combination to develop my philosophy and create gardens that are not only a delight to the eye but also make a meaningful contribution to the surrounding ecosystem—and, of course, offer something to harvest.

My approach to design and the choices I make are inspired by the patterns found in nature. My designs feature natural shapes and lines, varying elevations, and a wide diversity of predominantly native plant species—plants that belong to the local environment.

*Permaculture comes from permanent agriculture and permanent culture. It is an approach that encourages the gardener to work with nature and design a garden that does well without always requiring major interventions that go against ecological reality.

My design philosophy

01

Recycling

I recycle as much as possible of what's already in the garden, depending on your preferences and budget.

02

Native plants

I work with your garden's local ecosystem, creating a space where beneficial insects like butterflies and bees feel right at home.

03

Circuits

I build cycles in the garden, saving water and composting waste.
